Where to take the ferry from Patras to Venice

Ferries to Venice usually depart from the South Port of Patras (also known as the New Port), which is on the southern side of the city. The port is about 2.5 km from the city center and around 45 km from Araxos Airport (GPA).

At the port, you’ll find useful travel amenities such as passenger terminals, ticket offices, and waiting areas, and nearby you’ll find plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops.

How to get to the port of Patras?

  • By car: the port is easily accessible via the Olympia Odos highway (A8), simply follow signs for Patras Port or New Port. The drive from Athens to Patras takes 2.5 - 3 hr.
  • By bus: there are several daily Intercity KTEL bus services from Athens to Patras, taking around 3 hr. The KTEL bus station in Patras is a short bus or drive from the port. There are also regular city buses that connect central Patras with the port.
  • By taxi: taxis are readily available throughout the city, with a ride from central Patras to the port usually taking less than 10 min.

Where does the ferry arrive in Venice?

Ferries from Igoumenitsa arrive at the Fusina Ferry Terminal, located on the mainland side of the Venetian Lagoon. This terminal primarily serves ferry routes from Greece and is separate from Venice’s cruise port. The port of Fusina is about 6 km from the center of Venice and roughly 47 km from Venice Marco Polo Airport.

From the terminal, you can easily reach Venice by water bus (vaporetto), alternatively, buses and taxis are available for connections to Mestre or Piazzale Roma, the main gateway to Venice.

The terminal area includes basic passenger facilities, such as waiting areas, cafés, and parking. You’ll also find car rental services and transport connections nearby, making it convenient to continue your journey in the Veneto region or beyond.
