Are there cabins on the ferry?

Yes, on ferries from Patras to Venice, you can book a cabin for 1-4 passengers for a more comfortable journey. Typically, you have a choice between:

No, Superfast Ferries does not offer premium or business-class seating on Patras - Venice ferries, however you can book a numbered seat. These are reclining seats with extra legroom, making them ideal to stretch out during the trip.

Luggage

When traveling with Superfast Ferries, you are allowed as many bags as you can carry on board by yourself, with no size or weight restrictions.

Traveling with pets

Pets are generally allowed on the Patras - Venice ferry route, provided you include them in your booking. Make sure you bring along your pet’s health and travel documents, including passport, microchip ID and valid rabies vaccination, as well as tickets and pet supplies you may need for the trip.

Where do pets stay?

When traveling with Superfast Ferries, your pet can stay with you on deck, in the onboard kennels, or you can book a pet-friendly cabin. Pets travel for free on deck, while prices for kennels are usually €20, and pet-friendly cabins usually cost an additional €50 per pet.

The ferries have designated walking areas, however pets are generally not allowed in standard cabins, lounges or dining areas. During the trip, smaller pets must be kept in their carrier, while larger pets must wear a muzzle and be kept on a leash.

Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip from Patras to Venice:

• The port of Patras can get very busy, especially in the summer, so it’s best to be there at least 1 hr in advance. If you’re traveling with a vehicle, it’s best to arrive 2 hr ahead of your ferry’s departure.
• The Adriatic Sea can get a bit choppy, so if you are sensitive to the waves, consider taking seasickness medication for the trip. As always, you can discuss your options with your pharmacist or doctor.
• When planning your ferry trip, keep in mind that there's a 1-hr time difference between Greece and Italy.
• As the journey from Patras to Venice is overnight and takes at least 32 hr, we highly recommend that you book a cabin well in advance, as they often sell out.

Where to take the ferry from Patras to Venice

Ferries to Venice usually depart from the South Port of Patras (also known as the New Port), which is on the southern side of the city. The port is about 2.5 km from the city center and around 45 km from Araxos Airport (GPA).

At the port, you’ll find useful travel amenities such as passenger terminals, ticket offices, and waiting areas, and nearby you’ll find plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops.

How to get to the port of Patras?

• By car: the port is easily accessible via the Olympia Odos highway (A8), simply follow signs for Patras Port or New Port. The drive from Athens to Patras takes 2.5 - 3 hr.
• By bus: there are several daily Intercity KTEL bus services from Athens to Patras, taking around 3 hr. The KTEL bus station in Patras is a short bus or drive from the port. There are also regular city buses that connect central Patras with the port.
• By taxi: taxis are readily available throughout the city, with a ride from central Patras to the port usually taking less than 10 min.

Where does the ferry arrive in Venice?

Ferries from Igoumenitsa arrive at the Fusina Ferry Terminal, located on the mainland side of the Venetian Lagoon. This terminal primarily serves ferry routes from Greece and is separate from Venice’s cruise port. The port of Fusina is about 6 km from the center of Venice and roughly 47 km from Venice Marco Polo Airport.

From the terminal, you can easily reach Venice by water bus (vaporetto), alternatively, buses and taxis are available for connections to Mestre or Piazzale Roma, the main gateway to Venice.

The terminal area includes basic passenger facilities, such as waiting areas, cafés, and parking. You’ll also find car rental services and transport connections nearby, making it convenient to continue your journey in the Veneto region or beyond.
