Ferry from Positano to Amalfi

Most ferry operators offer special discounts for certain groups of passengers. Children up to the age of 2 to 3 usually travel for free, and children between the ages of 3 and 12 are eligible for discounts.

The Positano - Amalfi route is usually served by high-speed ferries and hydrofoils. The vessels are equipped with air-conditioned interiors and individual seating. Depending on the ferry, you can choose to stay inside or go out on deck to enjoy the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast.

Useful info: Many ferry companies operating on the Positano - Amalfi route accept e-tickets, allowing you to enjoy a hassle-free journey as you don't need to collect your paper tickets before boarding the ferry.

Cabins and accommodation

The Positano - Amalfi fast ferries and hydrofoils don't have cabins due to the short distance. A seat on board is included in the fare.

How much luggage cam I carry on board?

Luggage policies vary from company to company operating the Positano - Amalfi route:

• NLG allows 1 piece of luggage, including suitcases, travel bags and backpacks with maximum dimensions of 50x30x15 cm and a weight that must not exceed 5 kg.
• Positano Jet considers trolley bags and all types of suitcases as luggage, regardless of weight or size. They can be taken on board with an additional charge of €3. Handbags and backpacks are free of charge.
• On Travelmar ferries, each passenger is entitled to 1 baggage item of maximum dimensions of 45x35x20 cm. 
• With Seremar, you can bring 1 bag with dimensions up to 50×35×20 cm and weight up to 9 kg free of charge.
• On Coast Lines ferries, passengers can travel with 1 piece of luggage with a maximum size of 50x35x20 cm.
• Grassi Junior allows you to bring your luggage on board for an additional charge of €2.

Reminder: additional baggage and items over the recommended size/weight will be subject to a fee.

Can I travel with my pet?

On Positano to Amalfi ferries you can travel with your pet for an extra charge. You can include your pet in your online booking.

A carrier is required for small pets. Larger pets must wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead.

Some ferries provide services for people with disabilities, including reserved seats and accessible restrooms.

Where to take the ferry from Positano to Amalfi

Ferries to Amalfi depart from the only pier in the small port of Positano, which is very close to the town center and the Marina Grande beach.

Near the port there are cafes, restaurants, boat hires and nightclubs. Most of the shops are located in the streets leading to the upper part of the town.

How to get to the port of Positano

• By car: you can reach Positano by taking the A3 motorway to the Castellammare di Stabia exit and then following the scenic SS145 and SS163 Amalfi Coast roads. Paid parking is available in the town center, but spaces are limited, especially during the summer. From the parking areas, you can walk to the port.
• By bus: SITA Sud buses connect Positano with Sorrento, Amalfi, Salerno and other towns along the Amalfi Coast. The main bus stop is on the SS163 road, just a few minutes' walk from Spiaggia Grande and the ferry departure point.
• By train: Positano does not have a railway station. The nearest stations are Sorrento (connected to Naples by the Circumvesuviana railway) and Salerno, from where you can continue to Positano by SITA Sud bus or seasonal ferry.
• By plane: the nearest airport is Naples Capodichino Airport, about 60 km away. From the airport, you can reach Positano by bus, private transfer or taxi.

Where does the ferry arrive in Amalfi?

Ferries and hydrofoils from Positano arrive at Molo Cassone, located in the beautiful port of Amalfi.

It is about a 10 min. walk from the Cathedral of Amalfi (Duomo di Sant'Andrea), a landmark of the historic seaside town.
