You can choose from shared cabins or private cabins for up to 4 passengers, making them a convenient option for families and groups travelling together.

Yes, if you prefer not to book a cabin, you can reserve a standard numbered seat, with prices starting from around €86. Showers and toilets are available close to the seating lounges.

Good to know: at the moment, La Méridionale does not offer business or VIP seats on the Marseille - Tangier route.

How much luggage can I bring on board?

There is no specific weight limit for luggage on La Méridionale ferries. If you're travelling as a foot passenger, you should be able to carry your own luggage without assistance. As a practical guideline, bringing up to 50 kg per passenger is recommended.

Important: once the ferry has departed, the vehicle deck is closed to passengers. If you're travelling with a vehicle, make sure to pack everything you'll need during the crossing in a separate bag, such as clothes, toiletries, medication, chargers and children's essentials.

Pets on board

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on La Méridionale ferries operating the Marseille - Tangier route. This policy applies to all types of pets, including dogs, cats, birds and other companion animals.

Important: pets are not permitted to remain in vehicles during the crossing, as passengers cannot access the car deck while the ferry is at sea.

Exception: certified guide dogs and assistance dogs accompanying passengers with disabilities are welcome on board free of charge.

Which gate do Marseille - Tangier ferries depart from?

La Méridionale passengers travelling from Marseille to Tanger Med are welcomed at different access points depending on how they travel. Foot passengers should head to Gate 3C (Porte 3C), while passengers travelling with a vehicle should use Gate 4 (Porte 4).

Both access points are in the northern part of the port, around the La Calade / Arenc area. Make sure to check the latest port access details on your ticket before departure, as traffic and roadworks around the Euroméditerranée district may affect access to the ferry terminal.

How to get to the port of Marseille

• By car: if you are driving to Marseille, follow signs for the port, La Calade and the relevant ferry gate. From Aix-en-Provence, you can reach the port via the A51 and A55. From Montpellier, follow the A9 / A54 / A55 towards Marseille. From Toulon, follow the A55 towards Marseille and the port area.
• By bus: foot passengers can take RTM bus lines 35, 35T, 36 or 36B and get off at the Terminal Maghreb stop, located close to the port access control and around 150 m from the check-in counters.
• By metro or tram: you can take metro line 2 to Joliette or tram lines T2 / T3 towards the Arenc area, and then continue by bus, taxi or on foot depending on your departure gate.
• By train: from Marseille Saint-Charles train station, you can reach the port area by metro, bus or taxi in around 15-20 min, depending on traffic and your exact access gate.
• On foot: if you are staying near the Old Port or the Joliette area, the ferry access points are around 20-30 min away on foot, although taking public transport or a taxi is usually easier with luggage.

Where does the ferry arrive in Tangier?

Ferries from Marseille arrive at Tanger Med Port, the main international ferry port serving the Tangier area. The port is located near Ksar Sghir, about 40 km east of Tangier, so it should not be confused with Tangier Ville Port, which is closer to the city center.

How to get from Tanger Med to Tangier city center

The easiest way to reach Tangier from Tanger Med is by car or taxi. The drive to the city center normally takes around 45 min to 1 hr, depending on traffic and border-control procedures.

You can also continue your journey by bus. ALSA buses connect Tanger Med with Tangier city, including areas near the railway station. The bus ride usually takes more than 2 hr, so it is best to check the latest schedules before you travel.
